Enough of bans, orders and interference. The effects of madness on the streets last day of the year concern us all.
Prague is following several other cities that have refrained from organizing New Year's fireworks. These cities respond to louder and louder calls and complaints from citizens who, for various reasons, demand prohibitions and restrictions on these shows. For example, Brno has not organized New Year's fireworks for the past few years. However, Brno hosts the international fireworks competition Ignis Brunensis during the year, so people will not lose fireworks at other times. We do not have such a show in Prague during the year and, for example, this year's Midsummer festival Navalis (2019) was unfortunately without fireworks.
The main problem are not large professional fireworks. They contribute to the inconvenience of animals and humans as much as a major summer storm. Professional fireworks are fired from one location, for a limited time, and in 99% of cases it is the only firework in a wide area. Environmental impacts are then minimal. The harmful substances that can be released from the fireworks are very low, almost trace amounts. Thus, one such show will contribute to air pollution very minimally (moreover, the substances will dissipate very quickly due to weather conditions).
The main problem is exuberant merriment on the last night of the year. However, it is not a joy or celebration. Quite often the end of the year is more like a war zone in the streets than a celebration. One thing is to go with your family to a safe, distant place (stated at least 100 meters from the dwelling, which of course is often difficult in the city) and there soberly fired one "compact" or a few rockets and a Roman candle and then go quietly home . Ideally, of course, put fired fireworks at least to the nearest garbage bins. The other thing, though, is when people buy fireworks for a purpose that has nothing to do with the admiration of fireworks. These people then threaten not only themselves but also their surroundings and just add reasons to eventually ban everything. But we will all lose it. We are already deprived of an artistic spectacle, which, however, causes very few problems compared to this madness at the end of the year.
I will not shoot
Proto v rámci našich činností spouštíme kampaň/iniciativu #NEBUDUSTŘÍLET. O čem to je?
It is a moral commitment and at the same time an education to pyrotechnics and fireworks. Whoever joins and will share and use the hashtag / idea says that this year he will abandon his own use of pyrotechnic articles, or that he will use them responsibly to a lesser extent and only in a reasonable time. The ideal result is to reduce the rattling and danger in the streets. Along with educating on how to deal with pyrotechnics, we would also like to reduce the number of injuries caused by irresponsible treatment. I think that firefighters, police and rescuers will be happy for any reduction in the number of trips.
Bez zákazů, zrušení a nařízení. Ukažme světu i okolním městům, že víme, kde je problém, a jsme ochotni jej řešit. Každý by měl vždy začít sám od sebe. Milovníci ohňostrojů budou mít pořádnou podívanou a lidé vyhledávající klid budou mít klidnější konec starého roku a začátek nového.
And that's why I say: #IWILLNOTSHOOT
V rámci této iniciativy budou k dispozici videa i přednášky.
We have just completed and published our first video for #IWILLNOTSHOOT. The video is about fireworks and safety. It is precisely the issue of security that is never sufficiently addressed before New Year's Eve celebrations. There is little to do and the tragedy is born. Taking care of your safety and your surroundings is also one of the ways to make the end of the year calmer and safer for us all.
Žáci byli aktivně zapojeni do přednášky
pomocí otázek přednášejícího a také závěrečnou diskusí.
